Rick Davis
(Chief Instructor and Business Manager)

Rick graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and now works as a Construction Manager for semiconductor facilities. He has worked on projects in several different states and has also worked overseas in France and in China.

Rick competes in USPSA and IDPA pistol matches, USPSA 3 gun and sporting clays events. He is a strong supporter of civilian self defense and believes that good training is imperative to a good outcome in bad situations. Rick holds NRA instructor certifications in Personal Protection in the Home, Basic Pistol, and Home Firearms Safety. He is a New Mexico DPS approved Concealed Carry Instructor.

Kenneth Levan
(Chief Instructor and Training Coordinator)

Ken Levan, a third generation New Mexican, joined the Marine Corps in 1966, and after graduating from UNM in 1969 he served in the Marines until 1996. During his service, Ken was assigned and deployed around the globe to places including Okinawa, Viet Nam, Honduras, Cuba, Denmark, Norway, and the Philippines. When not assigned to Marine Expeditionary Forces, he served two tours at Marine Corps Headquarters and one tour on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon. He graduated with distinction from the National Defense University and received a Masters Degree from George Washington University in National Security Management.

Ken’s interest in firearms began when he was twelve years old with the gift of a .22 rifle. By the time he graduated from high school, he was an avid shooter, reloader, and hunter. His passion for shooting served him well in the Marines where he distinguished himself as a rifle and pistol expert.

Ken believes in every American’s right to keep and bear arms. To this end, he strives to help beginning and advanced shooters improve their skills and learn how to handle guns proficiently and safely for recreation and self defense.

Jason Peck
(Contract Defensive Pistol Instructor)

Jason W. Peck started his career in the United States Marine Corps as an active duty infantryman in the Maritime Special Purpose Force. After one and a half years as a Close Quarter Battle Operator, Jason was transferred to the Marine Combat Training Battalion for two years to be an infantry instructor. After attending a one month instructor training course, Jason trained 19 classes of over 1400 Marines in all aspects of infantry tactics and weapons. Jason was honorably discharged as a Platoon Sergeant and started his next career with the Albuquerque Police Department and NM Army National Guard.

Shortly after graduating from the police academy, Jason joined the NM Army National Guard. Jason was typically assigned to training soldiers in pistol and rifle marksmanship, along with infantry tactics. Jason was honorably discharged and had a total of eight years in military service.

Jason has been a police officer since 2001. He has been assigned as a Field Patrol Officer, an Emergency Response Team member, a Field Training Officer, and was assigned to the Albuquerque Police Department's SWAT team until his recent promotion to Sergeant.

As a SWAT team member, Jason has under gone an extensive training curriculum which allows him to operate on the only full time SWAT team in the State of New Mexico. Jason has attended numerous advanced firearms training courses and has competed in several SWAT competitions to include the US National SWAT Championships. He trains in firearms and SWAT tactics at least one day a week and must maintain a rifle and pistol expert status on a quarterly basis. Therefore, Jason keeps up with the most up to date training in the firearms community. Jason is also responsible for teaching other police officers in numerous areas of police work including firearms safety and marksmanship.

Jason is a trained Crisis Negotiator, an Explosive Breacher, a Rappel Master, a NM DPS Use of Force Instructor, a Ground Control Instructor, a Basic SWAT School Instructor, and holds three firearms instructor certificates from the NM Department of Public Safety, the US Department of Energy, and the National Rifle Association (rifle, pistol, and shotgun).

Jason has a formal college education from Wayland Baptist University; holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Jason also has several formal instructor development and leadership courses through the US military.

Brian Collins
(Contract Instructor)

Brian has over 20 years experience with firearms beginning, at age 10, hunting water fowl with his father. Over the years, his passion has changed from hunting to defensive shooting for the armed citizen. Brian is a competitive shooter and a member of Zia Rifle and Pistol Club, in Albuquerque, NM. He also is a member of such organizations as the National Rifle Association (NRA), Glock Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF), International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA), International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC), and Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA). It is Brian's goal to make the firearm learning experience safe, productive, and enjoyable for all who desire to learn or improve their knowledge and skill of firearms.

Scott Teare
(Contract Instructor)

Scott Teare, a university professor, received his education in Canada, earning advanced degrees in Physics. An experienced martial arts instructor, Scott has been teaching self-defense techniques to men and women of all ages and skill levels for many years, and has recently incorporated handgun training into the personal-protection skills he advocates and teaches.

Scott strongly supports of the right of self defense and the need for specialized education coupled with regular practice to build proficiency in the safe use of firearms. To hone his skills and maintain proficiency, he participates regularly in U.S. Practical Shooting Association and action pistol events at several New Mexico ranges. He is actively involved in the study of external ballistics for long range shooting and an admirer of the engineering skills of John M. Browning.
